What is a standard drink?
A standard drink is a defined amount of ethanol, not a particular glass or serving. Check which definition is being used when you compare figures.
Definition used in this calculator
For the United States, NIAAA defines a standard drink as 14 g of pure alcohol. The calculator below uses that definition; it is not a Slovak legal or health guideline.
Example
A 500 ml beer at 5% ABV contains about 19.7 g of ethanol. Using a 14 g definition, that is about 1.41 standard drinks. This is not a recommended number of drinks.
