What is the difference between a breathalyzer and an alcohol calculator?
A calculator applies assumptions to the information you enter. A breathalyzer measures a breath sample, so the two do not produce the same kind of result.
What the calculator does
The calculator has no sensor and takes no biological sample. It estimates a level from drinks, body weight and timing. The number of decimal places does not show how accurate the estimate is.
What a breathalyzer does
A breathalyzer’s result depends on the device, its calibration and whether it is used according to its instructions. This website does not test specific devices or replace an official measurement.
Check the units
A model result in ‰ and a breath reading in mg/L are different measurements. AlcoCalc does not provide a universal legal conversion between them.
The result and driving
A zero estimate is not legal evidence and does not confirm that you are fit to drive.
