How much alcohol is in wine?
A glass of wine is not a standard measure. The amount of ethanol depends on the pour size and the alcohol strength shown on the label.
Examples at 12% ABV
100 ml of wine contains about 9.5 g of ethanol; 150 ml contains 14.2 g, and 250 ml contains 23.7 g. These figures describe the drink, not a blood alcohol level.
Wine compared with beer
A 150 ml glass of wine at 12% ABV contains less ethanol than 500 ml of beer at 5% ABV. The comparison changes if the serving size or alcohol strength changes.
